This Day in History: 1984

Democrat Walter Mondale is highly encouraged by reports showing him ahead of his Republican opponent in the Minnesota polls. Several weeks later on Election Day, Mondale would be disappointed to learn that he had not been running for Governor of Minnesota, but for President of the United States of America:
