I think you're probably safe in assuming that. I say this because, by the same reasoning, it seems all one ever need do when attempting to discern the secret vice of any Republican legislator is to find out what they're speaking out against.
To wit: David Vitter (R-Louisiana) once said Bill Clinton should step down after his adultery scandal, Mark Foley (R-Florida) served as chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children, and Larry Craig (R-Idaho) led an extended effort that pushed for more severe punishment of Representative Barney Frank for his involvement in a gay prostitution scandal.
